Travel Nurse RN - Med Surg - $2,298 per week

About the role

TotalMed RN is seeking a travel nurse RN Med Surg for a travel nursing job in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The position is for a Medical Surgical RN with an immediate opening, requiring 1-2 years of recent acute care experience.

Responsibilities

• Conduct patient assessments and prioritize data collection based on patients' immediate conditions or needs.
• Perform ongoing assessments and appropriate treatments as ordered by a physician.
• Document patient findings and provide education and support to patients' families.
• Provide bedside care for a variety of patients, including pre- and post-op patients.
• Prepare, administer and record prescribed medication, reporting any adverse reactions to treatment.
• Change dressings, insert catheters and start IVs.
• Prepare equipment and aid physician during examination and treatment of patient.
• Educate patients on surgical procedures.
• Participate in discharge planning and initiate patient education plan as prescribed by physician.

Requirements

• BLS certification.
• Minimum 2 years of experience (1-2 years recent acute care experience).
• Additional certifications may be required before beginning an assignment.

Skills

• Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time.
• Ability to bend, lean, and stoop without difficulty.
• Ability to lift 20 pounds easily; moving or lifting patients may require up to 50 pounds.
• Capable of working in a fast-paced environment with patients who may be confused, agitated, or uncooperative.

Schedule

• 12‑hour rotating shifts.
• 36 hours per week.
• Duration: 13 weeks.
