About the role
Medical Surgical Floor Registered Nurse in Norfolk, Nebraska. This position involves providing care to a diverse patient population including adults and older teens, with common diagnoses such as pneumonia, urinary tract infections, dehydration, influenza, alcohol withdrawal, respiratory viruses, and surgical cases like orthopedic, general surgery, spinal, and urology. The role requires strong teamwork, bedside shift reporting, proactive patient rounding, and experience with EPIC documentation. The shift is scheduled for days, with potential weekend and holiday requirements.
Responsibilities
- Provide care to medical-surgical patients with diagnoses including pneumonia, UTI, dehydration, influenza, alcohol withdrawal, respiratory viruses, and post-operative orthopedic, general surgery, spinal, and urology cases
- Perform bedside shift reporting and proactive patient rounding
- Manage titratable IV drips such as Heparin, Bumex, and Lasix
- Maintain a 1:6 patient ratio
- Monitor telemetry, interpret strips, and collaborate with cardiac techs
- Float to IMCU for medical-surgical assignments as needed
Requirements
- Valid RN license
- BLS certification (AHA)
- Minimum 1 year of medical-surgical nursing experience
- Experience with EPIC documentation
- Comfort with bedside shift reporting and titrating drips
- Ability to work 12-hour day shifts and weekends/holidays
- Experience with telemetry monitoring
- First-time traveler experience preferred
