About the role
A Medical Surgical (MS) registered nurse position is available in Lincoln, Nebraska. This role involves providing patient care on a medical surgical floor with a focus on medical, surgical, and orthopedics patients. The ideal candidate will be responsible for delivering quality nursing care within a fast-paced acute care setting.
Schedule
- 12-hour day shifts
- Minimum of 36 hours per week
- Shifts: 6:30 AM to 7:00 PM and 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM
- Weekend and holiday requirements as needed
- No call or standby requirements
Responsibilities
- Provide quality nursing care on a 42-bed medical surgical floor
- Care for medical, surgical, and orthopedic patients
- Charge nurses take patient assignments
- Adhere to facility policies, including restrictions on artificial nails and fingernail policies
- Pass a pass/fail skills exam during orientation with at least a 90% score
- Float rotation may be required
- No titratable drips, except Heparin
- Utilize EPIC charting system
Requirements
- Valid nursing license
- BLS certification
- Minimum of 1 year of professional nursing experience in a comparable setting
- Driver’s license required at submittal for radius verification
- Must wear navy blue scrubs
Department Details
- 42-bed unit
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:5-6
- Nurse aides/patient care techs with ratios of 1:10-12
- RT available 24 hours for all setups
- Tele-monitoring available on the floor with centralized stations
- Orientation includes classroom training plus two 12-hour on-floor shifts
- RTO requests of 7 days or less per 13-week contract are accepted; additional RTO is not approved
- Facility can cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment
