About the role

The Med/Surg Orthopedic Registered Nurse provides comprehensive nursing care by assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating treatment for adult medical and orthopedic patients. The RN may be required to float to other units within competency and participate in on-call coverage based on operational needs.

Responsibilities

• Perform nursing and delegated medical functions
• Monitor patient progress and administer treatments and medications
• Provide patient education and health teaching
• Document care in accordance with hospital and regulatory standards
• Coordinate referrals and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to ensure high-quality patient outcomes
• Float to other departments within scope of practice and participate in on-call coverage if needed

Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice
• Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN) from an accredited School of Nursing (BSN preferred)
• BLS (AHA) – Required
• ACLS – Required (as appropriate for unit)
• PALS – Required (as appropriate for unit)
• NRP – Required (as appropriate for unit)
• Previous Med/Surg or Orthopedic RN experience preferred
• Strong skills in nursing assessment, patient care, treatment planning, health teaching, counseling, clinical documentation, and therapy monitoring

Schedule

Day Shift – 3 × 12-hour shifts (36 hours/week)
