About the role
A registered nurse (RN) specializing in Medical Surgical (MS) care is sought for a unit in an inpatient rehabilitation setting located in Omaha, Nebraska. The position involves night shifts and requires delivering quality patient care to adults and geriatrics, including patients with stroke, spinal cord injury, amputations, brain injury, and neurological diseases. The RN will participate in a collaborative environment, float to medical-surgical units as needed, and adhere to departmental policies and protocols.
The unit serves adult and geriatric patients with diagnoses including stroke, SCI, amputee, BI, critical illness, neurological diseases such as MS and Parkinson's. The RN is responsible for medication administration including antibiotics, anticoagulation, and antiplatelets. Nursing staff will work with a charge nurse during each shift, with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5 during the day and 1:6 at night. Orientation includes classroom training and two 12-hour shifts on the unit.
Candidates must comply with fingernail policy and RTO requests upfront (seven days or less per 13-week contract). The facility allows float to medical-surgical units and requires work during at least every third weekend and two holidays.
Responsibilities
- Deliver quality patient care to adults and geriatric patients with complex medical-surgical needs
- Administer medications including antibiotics, anticoagulants, and antiplatelets

Requirements
- Valid RN license
- BLS certification
- Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience
- Must reside within 50 miles of the assigned facility
- No prior employment (full-time, part-time, or PRN) with any facility associated with the organization
- Pass a competency exam on Friday during orientation with a 90% passing score
- Artificial nails are prohibited
- Valid driver’s license required at submission
