Travel Nurse RN - Med Surg - $2,146 per week

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care for patients with common diagnoses such as pneumonia, UTI, altered mental status, GI bleed, alcohol withdrawal, and falls/weakness
• Administer and titrate set-rate drips (e.g., heparin, bumex, lasix) with exceptions for cardiac drips
• Collaborate with charge nurses (day shift: 2 charge nurses, each with a patient assignment; night shift: 1 charge nurse without an assignment)
• Work alongside nurse aids/patient care techs (ratio 1:10-12) who assist with vitals, blood glucose monitoring, EKGs, heart monitor application, bathing, feeding, toileting, and patient positioning
• Monitor respiratory equipment (e.g., BiPap, Cpap, high flow O₂) while respiratory therapists handle administration, treatments, and ABGs
• Float to other Med Surg, Med Surg-Tele, or Intermediate Care units for lower-acuity patients as needed
• Adhere to every-other-weekend and holiday rotation requirements

Requirements

• Active, unexpired RN license and BLS certification
• Minimum of 1 year of Med Surg experience; first-time travelers accepted
• Ability to take PCT class or hold CNA certification
• Valid driver’s license (must be provided with submission)
• Flexibility to work rotating shifts (typically 2 weeks days/2 weeks nights) and fill schedule gaps

Unit Details

• 48-bed unit with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:5-7 on days and 1:6-8 on nights
• Monitor techs handle telemetry strip interpretation; nurses not required to read strips
• Dress code: Navy blue scrubs for RNs, ceil blue for PCTs, black and pink for secretaries
• Orientation: 1 day with educator/computer system, 1 day with preceptor
