About the role

The organization is seeking a Medical Surgical Registered Nurse (RN) for a facility located in Springfield, Illinois. This position involves providing care on a medical surgical floor, with a focus on patient-centered treatment and operational excellence. The role offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment with a reputable acute care hospital.

Details

  • 12-hour night shifts (1845–0715)
  • Minimum of 36 hours per week
  • Virtual at-home orientation day; required modules must be completed by 4:00 PM CST on Day 1
  • Floating within scope is required; travel experience is not required
  • Local candidates in Illinois are accepted; OR RN candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility
  • Facility is a 562-bed, Level I trauma center with Magnet designation
  • Free parking permit provided
  • Cerner charting system in use

Responsibilities

  • Provide patient-centered care on a medical surgical floor
  • Manage dressing changes, drain removals, and nasogastric tube insertions
  • Start intravenous lines and manage PICC lines
  • Suction tracheostomy and laryngectomy patients
  • Administer blood products and perform wound care, including Wound Vac
  • Operate and manage various patient equipment and devices
  • Handle special procedures and patient care as needed
  • Flexibility to manage patient ratios up to 1:7 if required
  • Work every other weekend

Requirements

  • Two years of experience as a Medical Surgical RN
  • Active Illinois RN license
  • BLS certification
  • Experience with PICC line management and starting IVs
  • Willingness to handle tracheostomy and laryngectomy patients
  • Ability to take up to a 1:7 patient ratio if needed

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Cerner charting system
  • Knowledge of wound care, including Wound Vac
  • Experience managing tracheostomy and laryngectomy patients

RTO Restrictions

  • Manager will review and approve time-off requests
