About the role
The Registered Nurse applies knowledge of nursing theory, technical, and communication skills in delivering high-quality compassionate care to patients and families. The RN assesses patient need, develops a plan of care in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, provides direct care, evaluates patient progress, and coordinates care delivery throughout the patient’s episode.
The RN on 3 North develops specialized skill in caring for patients admitted for medical conditions, serving adult, adolescent, and geriatric populations. The role includes patient and family education to support self-care beyond hospitalization, lifestyle changes, and emotional support in a Healing Environment.
Extended contracts through holidays required. Med/Surg RN Full Time (36 hours) + 2 on-call shifts in 4 weeks, with day/night variable shifts.
Responsibilities
- Apply nursing knowledge and skill in delivering care.
- Assess patient and family needs through active listening, observation, and data analysis; create and adjust individualized care plans in collaboration with the healthcare team.
- Promote, advocate for, and protect the health, safety, and rights of the patient; build trust and cooperation among team members.
- Delegate tasks consistent with individual education, training, and scope of practice; comply with infection prevention strategies.
- Motivate and educate patients and families on self-care and healing at home; assess learning styles, structure teaching sessions, and evaluate retention.
- Provide tools and information to assist the patient’s family after discharge; document education and patient response.
- Evaluate quality and effectiveness of nursing practice; engage in self-evaluation and professional development.
- Develop helping, trusting, and caring relationships with patients and families; anticipate needs and create a Healing Environment.
- Demonstrate skill in interventions, including medication administration; handle potential exposure to bloodborne pathogens.

- Two (2) years’ experience as an RN in a Med/Surg environment
