Travel Nurse RN - Med Surg - $1,979 per week

About the role

TotalMed RN is seeking a travel nurse RN Med Surg for a travel nursing assignment in Butte, Montana. The position is for a Medical Surgical RN with a specialty in Med Surg, discipline RN, lasting 13 weeks at 36 hours per week on 12‑hour day shifts. The ideal candidate should have 1‑2 years of recent acute care experience.

Responsibilities

• Conduct patient assessments and prioritize data collection based on patients’ immediate conditions or needs.
• Perform ongoing assessments and provide appropriate treatments as ordered by a physician.
• Document patient findings and provide education and support to patients’ families.
• Provide bedside care for a variety of patients, including pre‑ and post‑op patients.
• Prepare, administer, and record prescribed medications; report any adverse reactions.
• Change dressings, insert catheters, and start IVs.
• Prepare equipment and assist the physician during examinations and treatments.
• Educate patients on surgical procedures.
• Participate in discharge planning and initiate patient education plans as prescribed by the physician.

Requirements

• Current BLS certification.
• Current ACLS certification.
• 1‑2 years of recent acute care experience (minimum 2 years preferred).
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, bend, lean, and stoop without difficulty.
• Capable of lifting 20 pounds routinely; patient moving/lifting may require up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment with patients who may be confused, agitated, or uncooperative.
• Additional certifications may be required before starting the assignment.
