Travel Nurse RN - Med Surg - $1,959 per week
Fusion Medical Staffing is seeking a Med Surg Registered Nurse (RN) for a 26-week travel assignment in Kalamazoo, Michigan. This role involves delivering high-quality, patient-centered care in medical-surgical and telemetry units.

Responsibilities
- Explain procedures and treatments to patients and families, addressing concerns and ensuring understanding.
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments in adherence to nursing standards.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients’ conditions, documenting changes and reporting concerns to the care team.
- Prepare patients for diagnostic procedures, assist physicians during treatments, and monitor patient responses.
- Maintain a safe and comfortable environment for patients recovering from medical conditions or surgical procedures.
- Document comprehensive patient information, including vital signs, medications, treatments, and care outcomes, in the medical record.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including physicians, physical therapists, and social workers, to create and implement individualized care plans.
- Manage multiple patients efficiently, prioritizing care based on acuity and clinical needs.
- Ensure infection control practices are strictly followed, including hand hygiene and PPE use.
- Advocate for patients’ needs and preferences, ensuring they are respected and integrated into the care plan.
- Facilitate discharge planning, coordinating with patients, families, and external resources to ensure a smooth transition from hospital to home.
- Adhere to hospital safety protocols, infection control guidelines, and regulatory standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of practice.
Requirements
- One year of recent Med Surg RN experience.
- Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations.
- Current BLS (AHA/ARC) Certification.
Preferred Qualifications
- NIHSS certification.
- ACLS (AHA/ARC) certification.
- Other certifications and licenses may be required for this position.

- Proficiency in reading/comprehending written instructions, following verbal instructions, and PC skills.
- Physical abilities: Must be able to remain in a stationary position, move about, move equipment (50-100 lbs), push, pull, and bend.
- Interpersonal skills: Must work effectively with a variety of personnel to present a positive attitude and professionalism.
- Technical/motor skills: Ability to grasp, perform fine manipulation, push/pull, and move about when assisting with procedures and/or using department equipment.
- Mental requirements: Must cope with frequent contact with the general public and customers while meeting deadlines under pressure; work under close supervision occasionally or without assistance; contend with irregular activity schedules and continuous concentration to detail.
- Sensory: Must possess visual acuity and ability to communicate effectively.
