Travel Nurse RN - Med Surg - $1,955 per week

About the role
This position is located at a Level I Trauma Center with a focus on acute care for adult patients. The role involves providing excellent patient care within a high-turnover surgical unit, managing diverse patient diagnoses such as colon resection, bladder cancer, and other gastrointestinal and urological conditions. The nurse must demonstrate strong documentation skills, clinical proficiency, and the ability to work effectively within a team.
Responsibilities
- Provide nursing care for adult medical-surgical patients
- Administer blood products and medications, including Heparin and Insulin
- Perform central-line blood draws, colostomy and feeding-tube care, and IV starts
- Maintain peripheral lines and manage PICC lines
- Interpret dysrhythmias and monitor telemetry
- Perform phlebotomy and use telemedicine systems
- Document in Epic charting system
- Float within scope to meet facility needs
Requirements
- Active Illinois RN license (pending license accepted at submission)
- BLS and ACLS certifications (must be on file before start)
- Minimum of 2 years of med/surg experience
- Recent ICU or surgical-unit experience strongly preferred
- BSN preferred
- Must pass Relias EKG exam and background check
- Labs required within 48–72 hours of signing
- Completion of WorkRamp modules prior to start date
- No local candidates within 75 miles of the facility
- Open to block scheduling
Schedule
- Night shift, 12-hour shifts
- Minimum 36 hours per week
- Maximum 7 days of requested time off; no RTO allowed during the first week of assignment
