Travel Nurse RN - Med Surg - $1,657 per week

TotalMed RN is seeking a travel nurse RN Med Surg for an immediate opening in Altoona, Pennsylvania. TotalMed is a Top Ten travel nursing and healthcare staffing agency that places nurses, therapists, pharmacists and other clinicians nationwide, focusing on putting highly‑skilled staff into facilities to ensure adequate staffing and a better patient experience. The assignment is 13 weeks, 36 hours per week on 12‑hour rotating shifts.

Responsibilities

• Conduct patient assessments and prioritize data collection based on immediate conditions or needs.
• Perform ongoing assessments and provide appropriate treatments as ordered by a physician.
• Document patient findings and provide education and support to patients’ families.
• Provide bedside care for a variety of patients, including pre‑ and post‑op patients.
• Prepare, administer and record prescribed medication; report any adverse reactions to treatment.
• Change dressings, insert catheters and start IVs.
• Prepare equipment and aid physician during examination and treatment of patient.
• Educate patients on surgical procedures.
• Participate in discharge planning and initiate patient education plan as prescribed by physician.
• Stand and walk for long periods; bend, lean and stoop without difficulty.
• Lift up to 20 pounds easily; moving or lifting patients may require up to 50 pounds.
• Work in a fast‑paced environment treating patients that may be confused, agitated, and/or uncooperative.

Requirements

• Active BLS certification.
• 1‑2 years of recent acute care experience (Med Surg).
• Additional certifications may be required before starting the assignment.
