Job Summary

This position involves providing high-acuity care for obstetric patients, including managing labor, delivery, and postpartum recovery in a Level II Trauma Center with a robust antepartum and NICU. The role requires collaboration within a multidisciplinary team to ensure the safety and well-being of both mother and baby throughout the childbirth process.

Responsibilities

  • Triage OB patients
  • Circulate in operating rooms
  • Perform cervical checks
  • Interpret fetal monitoring strips
  • Assist in normal newborn care when necessary
  • Function as a Charge Nurse, managing patient assignments and staff coordination

Requirements

  • 2 years of nursing experience
  • Prior labor and delivery experience preferred
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
  • Intermediate Fetal Heart Monitoring (AWHONN) certification

Schedule

  • Shift times: 0700-1930 and 1900-0730
  • Minimum of 40 hours per week
  • 6-week cycle, planned and released two weeks in advance
  • Every other weekend rotation required
  • No mandatory call; occasional open shifts available

Orientation

  • Hospital and unit orientation
  • 6 shifts paired with a Charge Nurse
  • Neonatal orientation
  • Traditional scheduling

Support Staff

  • CNA 1
  • Scrub techs
  • Resource RNs
  • RTs
  • Anesthesia providers
  • Various ancillary team members
