Job Summary

The labor and delivery postpartum (L&D PP) specialty position is located in Irvine, California. This assignment involves working on the postpartum floor in a healthcare facility, focusing on maternal and neonatal care. The role requires engaging in a 12-hour night shift schedule, providing comprehensive obstetric and postpartum services to patients in a fast-paced environment.

Job Details

  • Schedule: Nights, 12 hours per shift, minimum 36 hours per week

Required Qualifications

  • 1-year recent (within the last 3 years) full-time equivalent experience
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program
  • Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state where care is provided
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Advanced Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
  • Demonstrated ability to perform electronic fetal monitoring
  • Demonstrated IV skills and ability to perform lab draws
  • Knowledge of high-risk medication administration (Magnesium, Oxytocin, Insulin)
  • Ability to perform Urine Point of Care testing
  • Knowledge of capillary blood glucose testing
  • Knowledge of IStat testing procedures
  • Knowledge of adult cardiac monitoring
  • Knowledge of newborn monitors including pulse oximetry and cardiac monitoring
  • Knowledge of heel sticks and venipuncture on newborns
  • Knowledge of newborn medication administration, including IV therapy and maintenance
  • Knowledge of Bili-blankets, lights, and radiant warmers
  • Support for GYN teaching and postpartum bladder training
  • Support for maternal-newborn teaching

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in nursing or related field
  • Minimum three (3) years of labor and delivery experience
  • Minimum three (3) years of postpartum experience
  • Minimum one (1) year of medical/surgical nursing experience

Additional Information

Position requires adherence to facility protocols for obstetric and postpartum care. Candidate must be able to support teaching and patient education on maternal and neonatal health topics. Prior experience in a high-volume postpartum setting is preferred.

Pay Package

The pay package is based on 12 hour shifts and 36 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with a tax-free stipend amount to be determined.
