About the role

Unit Information:

  • Location: Acute Hospital, 3rd floor
  • Facility Department Number: 708
  • Discipline: Labor & Delivery
  • No call requirements
  • 4 weekend shifts per schedule

Level 4 designated maternal center caring for the most complex patients at any gestation.

  • Number of Beds: 22 (16 labor beds)
  • Number of Staff: Approximately 100 RNs and support staff
  • Day Shift Staffing: 1 charge nurse, minimum of 2 surgical techs, 1 unit clerk, RNs staffed to census (typically 10 staff during the week, 7 on weekends)
  • Night Shift Staffing: 1 charge nurse, minimum of 2 surgical techs, 1 unit clerk, RNs staffed to census (typically 9 staff during the week, 7 on weekends)
  • Patient Ratios: 1:2, 1:1
  • EMR: CPN and Meditech
  • Permanent positions available on nights and weekend plan

Responsibilities

  • Care for high-risk maternal patients
  • Circulate in the operating room and triage
  • Perform typical procedures: vaginal and cesarean section deliveries, tubal ligations, cerclage placement and removal, D&C, C-hyst, PASD cases

Requirements

Must have:

  • Experience with high-risk maternal patients
  • Circulating operating room and triage experience

Preferred or nice to have:

  • Greater than 5 years’ experience

Skills

  • Multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to change directions quickly
  • Team-oriented, must be a team player

Unit Guidelines

  • Dress Code: Navy blue scrubs
  • Standardized order sets available on the unit for review

Additional Information

  • Very tenured unit with long-term leadership that is fully supportive of the team
  • Manager and Director assist with patient care if census requires
  • Undergoing renovation to update all rooms on the floor
  • No on-call required
