Travel Nurse RN - Labor and Delivery - $2,650 per week

About the role

A Labor and Delivery (L&D) registered nurse position is available for a facility located in Tacoma, Washington. The role involves providing specialized care within a high-acuity obstetric unit that manages antepartum, postpartum, high-risk, and triage patients. The position requires adherence to clinical standards and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to deliver exceptional maternal and neonatal care.

Responsibilities

Management of conditions such as preeclampsia, gestational and insulin-dependent diabetes, high BMI, multiples, preterm labor, AMA (Advanced Maternal Age), and substance abuse disorders. Experience with high-risk obstetric care, triage, surgical admission, and recovery is required.

Requirements

• Registered Nurse (RN) license
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
• AWHONN-Intermediate Fetal Monitoring certification
• A minimum of 2 years of relevant obstetric experience
• Willingness to wait for license submission

Clinical Environment

The unit features 11 antepartum/high-risk beds, 7 postpartum beds, 2 triage beds, and 3 postpartum beds, managing approximately 4,000 births annually. Common diagnoses include hypertensive disorders, diabetes, and high-risk pregnancies. Data monitoring is performed using the Centricity Perinatal system, with continuous in-house availability of neonatal and obstetric specialists.

Equipment & Staffing

NICU equipped with vents, Cpap, BiPap, etc. RNs will be expected to titrate drips such as Pitocin and Insulin. 24/7 coverage by OB/Neonatologist, advanced practice providers, and in-house NICU staff.

Operational Notes

Hospital can cancel up to four shifts per 13-week assignment or three shifts for shorter assignments. The unit utilizes EPIC for charting, and licensure submission is required. No float rotation or scrub dress code specified beyond hospital scrubs.

Pay

Pay package is based on 12 hour shifts and 36 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with tax-free stipend amount to be determined.
