About the Role

The labor and delivery department nurse in Worthington, Minnesota, will provide care in a unit serving obstetric, postpartum, well-newborn, and gynecologic surgical patients. Responsibilities include managing obstetric triage, labor and delivery, postpartum, and neonatal care, with procedures such as IV management, antibiotics administration, and short-term respiratory support. The nurse will primarily work in the Women's Center department, with opportunities to float to general medical units based on census needs.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret fetal monitor strips
  • Attend vaginal deliveries
  • Provide immediate newborn care and resuscitation
  • Manage obstetric triage, labor and delivery, postpartum, and neonatal care
  • Administer IVs, antibiotics, and short-term respiratory support
  • Work in the Women's Center department and float to general medical units as needed
  • Follow hospital protocols, including badge in/out and scrub dress code (navy blue)

Requirements

  • Valid licensure to submit in the state of Minnesota
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in labor and delivery
  • Certifications: BLS (Basic Life Support), ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support), NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
  • Familiarity with EPIC computer charting, OBIX fetal monitoring system, and Acudose medication dispensing

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with labor, delivery, postpartum, and newborn care across Level 1 and Level 2 nursery settings
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced obstetric environment
  • Adaptability to floating assignments within units

Schedule

  • 12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM to 7:30 AM)
  • 36 hours per week minimum
  • Weekend shifts every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday

New hire orientation lasts 2-3 days, including safety training, emergency management, equipment competency, and charting instruction. Staffing ensures at least two OB-trained staff members are in-house at all times.

Pay

Pay package is based on 12-hour shifts and 36 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with a tax-free stipend amount to be determined.
