About the Role

Fusion Medical Staffing is seeking a skilled Labor and Delivery RN for a 13-week travel assignment in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. This role provides comprehensive patient care in the obstetric setting, encompassing maternal and fetal health assessment, treatment administration, and collaboration with healthcare teams to ensure high-quality, patient-centered care during labor, delivery, and the immediate postpartum period.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate labor and delivery procedures to patients and families, providing reassurance and addressing concerns
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved obstetric nursing techniques
  • Prepare equipment and aid physician during labor, delivery, and examination of patients
  • Provide immediate postpartum care, including assessment and stabilization of mother and newborn
  • Educate patients and families on postpartum recovery, breastfeeding, and newborn care
  • Collaborate with obstetricians, anesthesiologists, neonatologists, and other team members to deliver cohesive care
  • Respond to obstetric emergencies, including preeclampsia, hemorrhage, or fetal distress, using evidence-based protocols
  • Document patient care, assessments, and interventions accurately in the medical record
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance maternal and neonatal outcomes
  • Perform fetal monitoring and interpret results
  • Assist in cesarean sections and other obstetric procedures
  • Comply with all regulatory standards, including hospital policies, state laws, and federal guidelines for obstetric nursing care
  • Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of labor and delivery nursing

Requirements

  • One year’s recent experience as a Labor and Delivery RN
  • Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations
  • Current BLS certification (AHA/ARC)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) Certification

Preferred Qualifications

  • AWHONN Fetal Monitoring Certification
  • STABLE and ACLS Certifications (AHA / ARC)

  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
  • Proficiency in reading/comprehending written instructions, following verbal instructions, and PC skills
  • Physical ability to remain stationary, move about, move equipment (50-100 lbs), push, pull, and bend
  • Interpersonal skills to work effectively with a variety of personnel while maintaining a positive attitude and professionalism
  • Technical/motor skills to grasp, perform fine manipulation, and assist with procedures
  • Mental ability to cope with frequent public contact, meet deadlines under pressure, and work with minimal supervision
  • Visual acuity and effective communication abilities

Schedule

  • Duration: 13 weeks
  • 36 hours per week
  • Shift: 12 hours, days
  • Employment Type: Travel
