Job Description & Requirements

Fusion Medical Staffing is seeking a Labor and Delivery RN for a 13-week travel assignment in Portland, Oregon. The position involves providing comprehensive patient care in the obstetric setting, including labor, delivery, and postpartum care.

  • Communicate labor and delivery procedures to patients and families, providing reassurance and addressing concerns.
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved obstetric nursing techniques.
  • Prepare equipment and aid physician during labor, delivery, and examination of patients.
  • Provide immediate postpartum care, including assessment and stabilization of mother and newborn.
  • Educate patients and families on postpartum recovery, breastfeeding, and newborn care.
  • Collaborate with obstetricians, anesthesiologists, neonatologists, and other team members to deliver cohesive care.
  • Respond to obstetric emergencies, including preeclampsia, hemorrhage, or fetal distress, using evidence-based protocols.
  • Document patient care, assessments, and interventions accurately in the medical record.
  • Perform fetal monitoring and interpret results.
  • Absorb and assist in cesarean sections and other obstetric procedures.
  • Comply with all regulatory standards, including hospital policies, state laws, and federal guidelines for obstetric nursing care.
  • Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of labor and delivery nursing.

Required Qualifications

  • One year’s recent experience as a Labor and Delivery RN.
  • Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations.
  • Current BLS certification (AHA/ARC).
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) Certification.

Preferred Qualifications

  • AWHONN Fetal Monitoring Certification.
  • STABLE and ACLS Certifications (AHA / ARC).
