About the role

Travel Labor and Delivery Nurse (L&D) position at a Community Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri. This role involves providing specialized care to obstetric patients during antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, and neonatal phases. The position requires delivering comprehensive maternal and neonatal care within a Level I Nursery setting, supporting high-risk deliveries, and managing complex obstetric needs. The shift schedule is days, with a commitment of at least 36 hours per week.

Responsibilities

  • Provide care for obstetric patients in antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, and neonatal phases
  • Support high-risk deliveries and manage complex obstetric needs in a Level I Nursery setting
  • Assist with vaginal births, cesarean sections, postpartum care, and antenatal testing (NSTs, BPP)
  • Perform external cephalic version and other obstetric procedures
  • Float within scope to meet facility needs, including triage, C-section, antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum care within the LDRP unit
  • Work up to 2 mandatory on-call shifts per 6-week schedule
  • Comply with facility policies regarding onboarding, compliance, and credentialing timelines

Requirements

  • Certifications: BLS, Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
  • 3 years of clinical experience in Labor and Delivery
  • Community hospital experience preferred
  • Valid licensure in applicable state
  • Experience with Epic charting system
  • Experience caring for obstetric patients in community hospital settings

Preferred Qualifications

  • AWHONN Advanced and Intermediate certifications
  • Additional skills in labor and delivery management
  • High-risk delivery assistance
  • Scrub for cesarean sections
  • Neonatal resuscitation

Schedule

  • Days shift, 12 hours per shift
  • Minimum of 36 hours weekly
  • No block schedules available
  • Request Time Off (RTO) must be finalized at submission, with a maximum of 7 days
