Travel Nurse RN - ICU - Intensive Care Unit - $3,037 per week

About the role

Travel Nurse RN – ICU (Intensive Care Unit) position in Tacoma, Washington. Assigned to the Nurse Float Pool ICU, with EPIC system required. The role will primarily work in the ED hold area and may float to a sister hospital 2.5 mi away as needed.

Schedule

• Start Date: 01/11/2027
• Duration: 13 weeks
• 48 hours per week
• Shift: 12‑hour days

Responsibilities

• Provide ICU care with patient ratios of 1:2 (ICU) and 1:4 (PCU/ACC/CCU, ER Holding) based on level of care.
• Manage cardiac rhythm interpretation, ventilator and BiPAP support, and invasive line care.
• Perform ostomy care, manage general drains, tracheostomies, chest tubes, and lumbar drains.
• Titrate IV medications and monitor critically ill patients.
• Care for a wide range of patient types including COVID‑19, neuro, trauma, medical, surgical, sepsis, pneumonia, DKA, multi‑system failure, spinal injuries, post‑cath patients, respiratory compromise, CHF, COPD, GSW, stabbings, MVA, strokes, TBI, and various back surgeries.
• Float among Neuro/Trauma/Medical/Cardiac ICU, CCU, PCU/ACC, ED Holding, MedSurg units, and open surge areas as needed.

Requirements

• Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
• Must pass DYS test prior to start
• Minimum 2 years ICU experience (neuro and trauma experience required)
• First‑time traveler accepted if strong ICU background and prior float pool experience are demonstrated

Qualifications

• Proficiency with EPIC electronic health record system
• Ability to float across multiple ICU and med‑surg environments
• Experience with neuro and trauma patient populations
