About the role

ICU (Intensive Care Unit) Registered Nurse (RN) Night Shift located in a fast-paced acute care setting. This role involves providing specialized critical care to trauma, neuro-stroke, head injury, and ventriculostomy patients, with a focus on ICP monitoring and ventilator management. Candidates must be prepared to work a demanding environment and collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team.

Schedule

  • Night shift, 12 hours per shift
  • 36 hours per week minimum
  • Schedules are released approximately 6 weeks in advance
  • Self-scheduling allowed, but reviewed by management
  • Includes every other weekend and holiday considerations

Responsibilities

  • Provide specialized critical care to trauma, neuro-stroke, head injury, and ventriculostomy patients
  • Monitor and manage ICP (Intracranial Pressure) and ventilators
  • Titrate emergent drips such as vasopressors and sedation
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including charge nurses and respiratory therapists (RT) available 24/7
  • Float to other settings such as PCU and CICU as required

Requirements

  • Valid RN license
  • ACLS & BLS certifications
  • COVID vaccination
  • NIHSS certification
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in ICU or critical care settings
  • Proficiency with ICP monitoring and ventilator management
  • Experience with trauma and neuro patients
  • Previous travel experience preferred

Preferred Qualifications

  • PALS certification (preferred; essential for travelers staying longer than 6 months)

Unit Details

  • Trauma, neuro-strokes, ventriculostomies, and ICP monitoring experience required
  • Charge nurse maintains 24/7 shift without patient assignments
  • House supervisor on shift
  • RT in ICU 24/7 with equipment including Hamilton vents and GE monitors read by RNs
