Job Description

Fusion Medical Staffing is seeking a travel nurse RN ICU - Intensive Care Unit for a 26-week assignment in Portland, Maine. The role involves providing critical care to patients in the ICU, operating life-support equipment, and collaborating with multidisciplinary healthcare teams.

Requirements

  • One year of recent experience as an ICU RN
  • Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations
  • Current BLS (AHA/ARC) and ACLS (AHA/ARC) certifications
  • Preferred: CCRN certification, TNCC, NIHSS certification

  • Strong critical care skills
  • Advanced clinical judgment
  • Excellent communication skills
  • A commitment to patient safety and professional ethics

Essential Work Functions

  • Assess and monitor critically ill patients
  • Administer complex medications and treatments
  • Operate and manage advanced life support equipment
  • Maintain patient safety and comfort
  • Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses
  • Communicate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams
  • Engage in quality improvement initiatives

Required Essential Skills

  • Critical thinking and service excellence
  • Good interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in the English language
  • Ability to read and comprehend written instructions and follow verbal instructions
  • Proficiency in PC skills

Physical Abilities

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position
  • Move about, move equipment (50-100lbs), push, pull, and bend

Interpersonal Skills

  • Must be able to work effectively with a variety of personnel
  • Must be able to work under close supervision occasionally
  • Must be able to work without assistance from other personnel
  • Must be able to cope with irregular activity schedules occasionally
  • Must be able to concentrate continuously to detail

Sensory Requirements

  • Must possess visual acuity
  • Must be able to effectively communicate with the general public and customers
