Travel Nurse RN - ICU - Intensive Care Unit - $2,385 per week

About the role

Travel RN position in the ICU – Intensive Care Unit for TotalMed RN in Tacoma, Washington. The assignment is a 13‑week travel contract starting 01/11/2027, 36 hours per week on 12‑hour night shifts. The role is within the Nurse Float Pool ICU, primarily covering the ED hold area and may float to various units including Neuro, Trauma, Medical, Cardiac ICU, CCU, PCU/ACC, MedSurg, and open surge areas, as well as a sister hospital 2.5 mi away.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in ICU, PCU/ACC/CCU, and ED holding areas with appropriate nurse‑to‑patient ratios.
• Manage cardiac rhythm interpretation, ventilator and BiPAP support, invasive lines, ostomies, drains, tracheostomies, chest tubes, lumbar drains, and IV medication titration.
• Care for a wide range of patient types including COVID‑19, neuro, trauma, medical, surgical, sepsis, pneumonia, DKA, multi‑system failure, spinal injuries, pre/post cath patients, respiratory compromise, CHF, COPD, GSW, stabbings, MVA, strokes, TBI, and various back surgeries.
• Float to Neuro/Trauma/Medical/Cardiac ICU, CCU, PCU/ACC, ED Holding, MedSurg units, and open surge areas as needed.
• Utilize EPIC electronic health record system and pass the DYS competency test prior to start.

Requirements

• RN license with at least 2 years of ICU experience; first‑time travelers with strong ICU and float pool background are considered.
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS.
• Must have neuro and trauma experience.
• Proficiency in cardiac rhythm interpretation, ventilator/BiPAP management, invasive line care, ostomy care, drain management, tracheostomy care, chest tube and lumbar drain management, and IV medication titration.
• Ability to work 12‑hour night shifts and pass the DYS test before assignment start.
