About the role
The organization is seeking an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Medical Nurse in Salem, Massachusetts. This role involves providing specialized care to adult patients in a 20-bed Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU), with duties including managing patients with diagnoses such as substance abuse overdoses, severe psychiatric conditions, diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA), sepsis, gastrointestinal bleeding, respiratory failure, cardiac arrests, renal failure, and cardiogenic shock. The position involves floating to various Medical/Surgical units and requires telemetry competency. The ICU is staffed 24 hours/day by attendings and residents.
Responsibilities
- Provide specialized care to adult patients in a 20-bed Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU)
- Manage patients with diagnoses including substance abuse overdoses, severe psychiatric conditions, diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA), sepsis, gastrointestinal bleeding, respiratory failure, cardiac arrests, renal failure, and cardiogenic shock
- Float to various Medical/Surgical units as required
- Maintain telemetry competency
Requirements
- Active Massachusetts Registered Nurse (RN) License
- American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
- 2+ years of Adult ICU experience required
- At least 2 years of continuous work in one location, preferably in a Medical ICU
- Experience with EPIC EMR System
Schedule
- Night shift, 12 hours per shift, minimum 36 hours per week
- All night shifts do not rotate; day rotators may rotate between 7 a.m. - 7 p.m., 11 a.m. - 11 p.m., or 7 p.m. - 7 a.m. shifts when needed
- Float rotation may be required, primarily in Medical/Surgical Units, with patient loads up to 4 or 5 patients
