HealthTrust Workforce Solutions HCA is seeking a travel nurse RN ICU - Intensive Care Unit for a travel nursing job in Alexandria, Louisiana.

Unit details

• Unit: MICU (650) / Rapides
• Number of beds: 26
• Patient ratios: 2:1
• Unit staffing: RNs and Unit secretary/COVID runner. Total care is provided by RNs.
• Equipment: Ventilators, Alaris IV pumps, Balloon pumps, ventriculostomy drains, glucometers. Use of iMobile phones and technology by all staff in the hospital. PPE includes mask, face shields, goggles, PAPR's, and hoods for COVID-19 patients.
• Documentation system: Meditech using EBCD (Evidence Based Clinical Documentation)
• Scheduling: All nursing shifts are twelve hours from 7 to 7; every other weekend. Holiday requirements.
• Floating policy: Nursing staff will float to other Medical-Surgical Units in the hospital as needed with priority focus on pulling to Intensive Care Units.
• Patient experience requirements: Hourly rounding, bedside hand-off reporting, completion of "My Care Board" during hand-off report; use of AIDET with a focus on compassionate connected care.

Requirements

• Must be willing to care for COVID-19 patients
• ICU experience
• Positive attitude, flexibility, teamwork, desire for excellence, self-motivated, good communication and people skills
• Ability to work in a diverse environment
• Advanced skills needed: Ventilator management, critical care drip knowledge, thorough and accurate assessment skills, and proficient knowledge with cardiac, neuro, and respiratory systems
• Donning and doffing of PPE

Procedures performed on unit

• Intubations
• Cardioversions
• Ventriculostomy drain placement and management
• IABP management
• Continual renal replacement therapy (CRRT)
• Proning of patients

Certifications

• Required: ACLS and BLS
• Preferred: TNCC
