Travel Nurse RN - ICU - Intensive Care Unit - $1,880 per week

About the role

TotalMed RN, a Top Ten travel nursing and healthcare staffing agency, is seeking a travel nurse RN for an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) position in Mason, Ohio. The assignment lasts 13 weeks, with 36 hours per week worked on 12‑hour night shifts. Candidates should have 1‑2 years of recent acute care experience and a current BLS certification (additional certifications may be required).

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and monitor patients in the ICU setting.
• Provide direct care to patients in life‑threatening situations, documenting and implementing physician‑directed care.
• Assess and implement patient care plans, delegating to other care providers as appropriate.
• Provide education and support to patient families, including long‑term care needs.
• Provide basic bedside care.
• Prepare, administer, and record prescribed medications; report any adverse reactions.
• Order and evaluate diagnostic tests.
• Take samples for lab work, order corresponding lab work, and interpret reports.
• Monitor and adjust specialized equipment; interpret and record electronic displays.
• Ensure proper placement and functioning of catheters, leads, and tubing.
• Communicate patients’ conditions to family members.
• Stand and walk for long periods; bend, lean, and stoop without difficulty.
• Lift up to 20 pounds routinely; moving/lifting patients may require up to 50 pounds.
• Work safely around potential exposure to chemicals or infectious diseases.
• Manage patients who may be confused, agitated, or uncooperative.

Requirements

• Current BLS certification.
• 1‑2 years of recent acute care experience (ICU preferred).
• Additional certifications may be required before assignment.
