About the Role

Fusion Medical Staffing-Nursing is seeking a travel nurse RN for the ICU - Intensive Care Unit in Wichita, Kansas. This is a 13-week assignment starting on 08/17/2026, with 36 hours per week on 12-hour night shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Assess and monitor critically ill patients, recognizing and responding to subtle changes in patient condition
  • Administer complex medications and treatments in accordance with approved critical care nursing techniques
  • Operate and manage advanced life support equipment
  • Ensure patient safety and comfort in high-acuity ICU environments, addressing physical and emotional needs
  • Record significant conditions, reactions, and interventions, notifying the appropriate provider of changes in patient status
  • Perform and interpret advanced hemodynamic monitoring, including arterial lines, central venous pressure, and pulmonary artery catheters
  • Document all assessments, interventions, and patient responses in the medical record to ensure continuity of care and compliance with regulatory standards
  • Provide education to patients and families regarding the ICU environment, treatments, and recovery expectations
  • Communicate closely with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to optimize patient care
  • Maintain proficiency in critical care procedures and technologies through ongoing education and training
  • Adhere to strict infection control protocols to protect immunocompromised patients and reduce risks
  • Engage in quality improvement initiatives to enhance ICU patient outcomes and operational efficiency
  • Perform other duties as assigned within scope

Requirements

  • One year of recent experience as an ICU RN
  • Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations
  • Current BLS (AHA/ARC) and ACLS (AHA/ARC) certifications

Qualifications

  • Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) certification (preferred)
  • TNCC, NIHSS certification (preferred)
  • Other certifications or licenses may be required

  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in English
  • Proficiency in PC skills
  • Physical abilities: remain stationary, move about, move equipment (50-100 lbs), push, pull, and bend
  • Interpersonal skills: work effectively with various personnel, maintain a positive attitude and professionalism
  • Technical/motor skills: grasp, perform fine manipulation, push/pull, and move about when assisting with procedures
  • Mental requirements: cope with frequent contact with the public, meet deadlines under pressure, work independently and under supervision
  • Sensory: visual acuity and effective communication abilities
