Travel Nurse RN - First Assist - $3,899 per week

About the Role

Seeking an experienced Operating Room RN for a busy acute-care surgical department at a facility in Arroyo Grande, California. This is a travel nursing position for a First Assist RN working 10-hour day shifts. The nurse will primarily circulate a broad range of surgical cases and must be comfortable participating in weekday, weekend, and holiday call coverage.

Required Certifications

• AHA BLS
• ACLS
• CNOR through CCI

Experience and Skills

• Recent Operating Room RN experience
• Strong circulating skills
• Scrub experience preferred but not required
• Comfortable caring for ventilated surgical patients
• Able to work independently in a fast-paced OR environment
• Must meet a 30-minute call-back response time

Schedule and Call Requirements

• 10-hour day shifts; schedule may vary between 8- or 10-hour shifts based on department needs
• No regularly scheduled weekend shifts
• Call is required on some nights and weekends
• Approximately 1 weekday night call shift per week
• Approximately two 12-hour weekend call shifts per month
• Holiday coverage required
• Call-back response time is 30 minutes

Work Environment and Support

• 7 operating room suites
• Average daily volume: approximately 18–20 cases
• Patient ratio: 1:1; may be 2:1 for select cases
• Charting system: Cerner
• Scrubs are provided
• BSN not required
• Charge Nurse available
• Surgical Technologists support the department
• Surgeon coverage available 24/7
• Respiratory Therapy available 24/7
• Pharmacy available 24/7
• No dedicated IV team
• Philips monitoring equipment

Floating and Cancellation Policy

• Floating is limited to Pre-Op and Post-Op areas
• Facility may cancel up to 4 shifts during a 13-week assignment
• For contracts shorter than 13 weeks, the facility may cancel up to 3 shifts
