About the role

The organization is seeking a Nurse Educator specializing in diabetes education to support a 225-bed specialty care hospital located in the central region of Michigan's upper peninsula. The role involves providing diabetes education, consultation, and evaluating patient and program outcomes. The position requires delivering educational material tailored to diverse patient populations, including pediatric and adult patients across various age groups.

Schedule

• Days shift, 8 hours per day
• Minimum of 40 hours per week

Requirements

• Associate's degree in Nursing or Bachelor's degree in Dietetics
• Registered Nurse (RN) license in Michigan or Registered Dietitian Certification
• Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) or Basic Life Support (BLS-HCP) certification
• 1 year of relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with diabetes education and patient education in a hospital setting
• Ability to work independently in a stressful environment
• Critical thinking skills

Responsibilities

• Independently develops, communicates, and implements patient teaching interventions
• Conducts educational sessions for inpatient and outpatient populations, adapting content to age and developmental needs
• Maintains diabetes supplies and provides backup support to staff
• Participates in orientation, training, and meetings as required
• Prepares reports related to patient education activities

Additional Information
