About the Role
Travel nursing position for an RN in the Emergency Department (ED) at a facility in Manchester, New Hampshire. This is a 13-week assignment starting on 08/03/2026 with a 36-hour workweek on 12-hour evening or night shifts.
Unit Information
- Number of Beds: 4 in Annex (secure locked psychiatric area), 25 procedure rooms (with curtains or doors), 8 hallway beds (utilized 24/7)
- Number of Staff: 88 combined job titles
- Staffing Breakdown:
- 7a-3a: 1 Charge RN, 7 RNs, 3 ED Techs, 2 RPs; Annex: 1 RN and 1 ED Tech
- 3a-7a: 1 Charge RN, 6 RNs, 2 ED Techs, 1 RP; Annex: 1 RN and 1 ED Tech
- Patient Ratios: 4:1 (flexible during acute surges)
- Equipment: U/S IV skills, Lucas Device, Hotline Rapid Infuser, Alaris pumps, Pyxis
- EMR: Sunrise/Allscripts
- Patient Population: Multiple comorbidities, NEHI (New England Heart Institute) patients with complicated heart conditions, DKA, Sepsis, Trauma, Stroke
Responsibilities
- Perform typical ED procedures, including:
- Trauma care
- Stroke care
- Laceration repair
- Orthopedic trauma
- U/S IV insertion
- IO insertion
- Eye exams
- EKG interpretation
- Psychiatric care
- Cardiopulmonary care
- Follow RN protocols based on chief complaint, including ordering labs, EKGs, x-rays, and medications
- Work every other weekend (contract labor)
Requirements
- Must-Have Skills (Contract Labor):
- At least 2 years of ED experience
- BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC certifications
- Adaptability and strong communication with patients and peers
- Strong assessment and critical thinking skills
- Dependability and punctuality
- Strong understanding of medical terminology
- Preferred Skills:
- At least 1 year of ED experience (for HCA-hired staff)
- MOAB certification (for HCA-hired staff)
- Strong EKG interpretation skills
- Personality Fit: Motivated, hardworking, creative problem solver with a desire to help and care for patients
