Emergency Room (ER) registered nurse position located in Franklin, Indiana. This role involves providing high-quality patient care in a community hospital setting with a focus on emergency interventions, patient boarding, and rapid response. The ER nurse will float across various units as needed and work a 12-hour night shift schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality patient care in the emergency department
  • Manage emergency interventions, patient boarding, and rapid response
  • Float across various units as needed
  • Handle diverse patient populations ranging from pediatrics to geriatrics
  • Perform IV placement and EKG interpretation
  • Conduct rhythm analysis and moderate sedation
  • Manage patient holds within the department
  • Read and interpret telemetry and EKG strips
  • Assist with patient transfers to radiology when necessary
  • Adhere to unit-specific protocols and maintain a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1 to 4

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of recent emergency room experience in community hospitals or critical access hospitals
  • Current RN license
  • Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Cerner electronic medical record system
  • Experience in trauma bays

Additional Information

  • 26-bed hospital with 3 trauma bays and a designated treatment area with 4 beds
  • Single triage area
  • 24/7 security and in-house respiratory therapy support
  • Unit manages approximately 60 patients per day
  • Unit-specific orientation of 1-2 shifts with a preceptor
  • Navy blue scrubs required; no facial piercings (except nose with mask), gauges, or visible vulgar tattoos
  • No call or standby responsibilities

  • Punctuality and commitment to the assignment
  • Flexibility to work holidays if needed

Schedule

  • 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
  • Minimum of 36 hours per week
  • Duration: 13 weeks, starting 08/17/2026
