Travel Nurse RN - ED - Emergency Department - $2,230 per week

Job Summary

Emergency Room (ER) Nurse position within a Level I Trauma Center managing a broad range of acute and trauma cases. This role involves providing expert nursing care in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment, adhering to established clinical protocols and maintaining patient safety and comfort throughout each shift.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert nursing care in a high-acuity emergency department setting
• Manage trauma, sepsis, chest pain, shortness of breath, and stroke cases
• Read and interpret own cardiac strips
• Float to the observation unit and Freestanding Creighton ER at least once per week
• Work weekend and holiday shifts as needed
• Adhere to hospital policies including the fingernail policy (no artificial nails)
• Pass skill exams during orientation

Required Qualifications

• Valid driver's license
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification
• NIHSS (National Institute of Health Stroke Scale) certification
• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) certification
• Minimum of 2 years of ER nursing experience

Preferred Qualifications

• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification

Unit Details

• 20 beds with designated trauma, observation, hallway, and fast track areas
• Staffed with physicians, mid-level providers, charge nurses, nurse aides, EMTs, and patient sitters
• Ratios vary by area: 1:4 in zones, 1:6 in Fast Track, 1:5 in observation, 1:1 in ICU/trauma

Schedule

• 12-hour shifts with start times varying from 07:00 to 19:00
• Minimum of 36 hours per week
• Weekend and holiday work as needed
• Onboarding: 1 week of initial training plus department-specific shifts
