32-Beds Triage & Fast Track

Triage Area

Triage area located in the ER with a separate Fast Track - Open 11 am - 11 pm

Certifications

  • RN's: BLS & ACLS are Required.
  • PALS, NIHSS, TNCC preferred.
  • Note: if they have the space they will allow travelers to take TNCC here (at the traveler's own expense)

Ratios

  • 1:4 in the Main ER
  • 1:5 in the 5-bed lower acuity area within ER
  • 1:4-6 in the Fast Track

Charge Nurse

Yes - no patient assignment.

Nurse Aides

ER Techs (3 per shift, ratios 1:10-12)

Weekend Requirement

Every-other-weekend. Sat/Sun for both Days/Nights

Holidays

Work in the holiday rotation schedule with perm staff

Pharmacy

  • 24/7 In-house pharmacy
  • No pharmacist in the ER
  • Accudose Shifts

Tele

Yes - Must be able to read & interpret strips

RT

  • RT 24/7
  • RT does not do EKGs
  • Vents

    Yes - Servo

    EPIC

    Charge Nurse

    Yes - no patient assignment.

    Common Diagnosis / Types of Patients

    • All typical ER patients: Chest Pain, Respiratory failure, Abdominal pain, 15% pediatric population, occasional GSW, closed head injuries, etc.
    • but major traumas are stabilized & transferred to sister hospital, JW Ruby Memorial - Level 1 Trauma Center 40-45 min away

    Additional Notes

    • They admit about 18% of what comes in the door.
    • ER Staff keeps their own holds unless float pool floats to take holds.
    • Patients average approximately 2 hours/45 minutes in the ER.
    • This is an extremely efficient ER & a very positive work environment.
    • They are used to travelers & are very welcoming/traveler friendly.
