Travel Nurse RN - ED - Emergency Department - $2,072 per week

About the Role

Registered Nurse – Emergency Room - Travel - (ER RN) position at a Level III trauma center in Yakima, Washington. This is a 17-week travel nursing assignment with 36 hours per week on 12-hour night shifts. The unit has 34 beds with 12 hallway beds and is the busiest ED in the state.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of ED experience in a large volume ED with high acuity patients
• Active Registered Nurse license
• SSN and DOB required for submission
• ACLS, BLS, PALS or ENPC, and TNCC certifications (ENPC accepted in lieu of PALS; proof of class registration accepted)
• Trauma experience
• ER skills checklist completed within the last 12 months
• ER reference within the last 12 months
• Copies of all required certifications
• Will NOT accept first-time travelers

Skills Required

• Strong emergency nursing skills including critical care and pediatric patients
• Experience with chest tubes, arterial lines, blood administration, Bipap/Ventilators
• Splinting
• Barcode scanning medication administration
• Experience managing medication drips
• Triage experience (must pass hospital's Triage Test before allowed to triage)
• Able to set up chest tubes and art lines
• Assist with trauma and code cases
• Pediatric emergency medicine experience (highly preferred)
• Good understanding of ESI

Patient Population & Unit Details

• Neonate to geriatric patients
• Level III trauma center
• Pediatrics (medical and trauma)
• Stroke (administer TPA)
• Cardiac (cath lab)
• Behavioral health and substance use disorder
• Transfer out (stabilize and ship): neurosurgery, multi-system trauma, high acuity peds patients
• Patient ratios: 1:3-5 based on acuity
• Fast track (13 beds, "green zone")
• ER is set up in zones

Support Staff

• 3 ED techs – transport, stock rooms, EKGs, sitters
• Medical Assistant – blood sugars, pass meds, assist with splinting
• Receptionist/HUC
• Charge nurse (typically not in a patient assignment)
• Phlebotomy – RN draws own labs, especially at night
• IV/VAT Team available until 2300 for hard sticks (dependent upon availability)
• Hospitalist
• Mid-level providers: Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioners
• Security available 24/7

Technology & Equipment

• EMR: EPIC (strongly recommend)
• IV pumps: Alaris
• Medication dispensing: Omnicell
• Monitors: Phillips

Schedule

• Start Date: 09/21/2026
• Duration: 17 weeks
• 36 hours per week, 12-hour night shifts
• Shift times available: 12p-12a, 1p-1a, 2p-2a, 3p-3a, 7p-7a (night shift placements from the EVE/NOC shift pool)
• Weekend rotation: Every other weekend (may work back-to-back weekends, rare)
• Holiday expectations: May be scheduled on 1-2 holidays per contract
• On call: No
• Time off: Up to 7 days may be approved
• Schedule cycle: 6 weeks in advance for a 6-week schedule
• Flexibility requested in scheduling

Orientation

• Hospital NEO
• Remaining shift worked with a preceptor on the floor
• 1-2 shifts on the unit with preceptor support (will have own patient assignment but with a resource buddy)

Pay

$2020.00 – $2123.00 per week (based on 12-hour shifts and 36 hours per week, subject to confirmation, with tax-free stipend amount to be determined).
