About the Role

The Emergency Room Registered Nurse (ER RN) delivers rapid-response, high-quality patient care in a fast-paced emergency department. Responsibilities include assessing patient conditions, implementing urgent care plans, administering life-saving treatments, and collaborating with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure efficient, patient-centered care in critical situations.

Responsibilities

  • Rapidly assess and triage patients upon arrival, prioritizing care based on severity
  • Explain emergency procedures and treatments to patients and families
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments per emergency nursing protocols
  • Prepare equipment and assist physicians during emergency treatments and examinations
  • Monitor patient comfort and safety, responding to immediate needs
  • Observe and document patient conditions within scope of practice
  • Take and monitor vital signs, addressing deviations to prevent complications
  • Respond to life-saving situations based on emergency nursing standards
  • Document comprehensive nursing assessments, interventions, and outcomes in EMR
  • Initiate patient education plans considering the acute nature of emergency care
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (physicians, specialists, paramedics, social workers, etc.)
  • Adhere to hospital safety protocols, infection control guidelines, and regulatory standards
  • Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of practice

Requirements

  • One year of recent experience as an ER RN
  • Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations
  • Current BLS certification (AHA/ARC)
  • Current ACLS certification (AHA/ARC)
  • Current PALS (AHA/ARC) or ENPC Certification

Preferred Qualifications

  • TNCC, NIHSS, CPI, NRP, and SANE certifications
  • Other relevant certifications or licenses

Skills

  • Strong interpersonal communication in English (reading, writing, verbal)
  • Proficiency in PC skills and following written/verbal instructions
  • Physical ability to remain stationary, move equipment (50-100lbs), push, pull, and bend
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse personnel and maintain professionalism
  • Technical/motor skills for grasping, fine manipulation, and assisting with procedures
  • Mental resilience to cope with high-pressure environments and irregular schedules
  • Visual acuity and effective communication abilities
