Job Summary
The Emergency Room (ER) Nurse position in Durango, Colorado involves providing acute care in a fast-paced ER environment, primarily during night shifts.
Required Qualifications
- Valid licenses to practice in the state of Colorado
- ACLS (American Heart Association)
- BLS (American Heart Association)
- NIHSS, PALS, TNCC certifications
- 2 years of ER experience
- Location in Durango, Colorado
- At least 2 years of experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with common drips and standard ER medications
- Proficiency with EPIC charting system
- Ability to read tele monitors and perform Point of Care lab testing
- Experience with adult patient care including trauma, stroke, NSTEMI, and other common diagnoses
Schedule
- Night shifts
- Every other weekend and every other holiday required
- No self-scheduling or block scheduling permitted
Additional Information
- Candidate must be in the state during the week of orientation
- Unit is a trauma level emergency department and a STEMI receiving stroke center with mixed ER holds and no separate holding area for psychiatric patients
- Nurse-to-patient ratio approximately 1:4-5 depending on acuity
- Support staff includes nurse aids, EMTs, paramedics, and patient sitters, with support techs assisting nurses and RT services available 24/7
- No monitor techs; RNs are expected to interpret tele monitors
