Travel Nurse RN - ED - Emergency Department - $1,987 per week
About the role
Fusion Medical Staffing is recruiting a travel nurse RN for the Emergency Department (ED) in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The position is for 13 weeks starting August 5, 2026, with a 36-hour workweek and 12-hour shifts.
Responsibilities
- Rapidly assess and triage patients upon arrival, prioritizing care based on the severity of their condition
- Explain emergency procedures and treatments to patients and families
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved emergency nursing techniques and protocols
- Prepare equipment and aid physicians during emergency treatments and examinations
- Maintain patient comfort and safety throughout their time in the emergency department, responding to immediate needs
- Observe and document patient conditions as required within scope of practice
- Take and monitor vital signs using clinical judgment to address deviations and prevent complications
- Respond to life-saving situations based upon emergency nursing standards, policies, procedures, and protocols
- Document comprehensive nursing assessments, interventions, and outcomes in electronic medical records (EMR)
- Initiate patient education plans according to individualized needs, considering the acute nature of emergency care
- Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams including physicians, specialists, paramedics, social workers and other support staff to ensure comprehensive care
- Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of practice
- Adhere to hospital safety protocols, infection control guidelines, and regulatory standards
Requirements
- One year of recent experience as an ER RN
- Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations
- Current BLS certification (AHA/ARC)
- Current ACLS certification (AHA/ARC)
- Current PALS (AHA / ARC) or ENPC Certification
- Preferred: TNCC, NIHSS, CPI, NRP and SANE certifications
Qualifications
Other certifications or licenses may be required for this position. Required qualifications include critical thinking, service excellence, and good interpersonal communication skills, as well as the ability to read/write in the English language, read and comprehend written instructions, follow verbal instructions, and proficiency in PC skills. Physical abilities include remaining in a stationary position, moving about, moving equipment (50-100lbs), pushing, pulling, and bending. Interpersonal skills require working effectively with a variety of personnel (professional and ancillary) to present a positive attitude and professionalism. Technical/motor skills include the ability to grasp, perform fine manipulation, push/pull, and move about when assisting with procedures and/or using department equipment. Mental requirements include coping with frequent contact with the general public and customers while meeting deadlines under pressure, working under close supervision occasionally, and working without assistance from other personnel. Sensory requirements include possessing visual acuity and ability to effectively communicate.
