About the Role

The Emergency Room Registered Nurse (ER RN) delivers rapid-response, high-quality patient care in a fast-paced emergency department setting. Responsibilities include assessing patient conditions, implementing urgent care plans, administering life-saving treatments, and collaborating with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure efficient, patient-centered care in critical situations.

Responsibilities

  • Rapidly assess and triage patients upon arrival, prioritizing care based on severity of condition
  • Explain emergency procedures and treatments to patients and families
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved emergency nursing techniques and protocols
  • Prepare equipment and aid physicians during emergency treatments and examinations
  • Monitor patient comfort and safety, responding to immediate needs
  • Observe and document patient conditions within scope of practice
  • Take and monitor vital signs, addressing deviations to prevent complications
  • Respond to life-saving situations based on emergency nursing standards, policies, procedures, and protocols
  • Document comprehensive nursing assessments, interventions, and outcomes in electronic medical records (EMR)
  • Initiate patient education plans considering the acute nature of emergency care
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including physicians, specialists, paramedics, social workers, and other support staff
  • Adhere to hospital safety protocols, infection control guidelines, and regulatory standards
  • Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of practice

Requirements

  • One year of recent experience as an ER RN
  • Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations
  • Current BLS certification (AHA/ARC)
  • Current ACLS certification (AHA/ARC)
  • Current PALS (AHA/ARC) or ENPC Certification

Preferred Qualifications

  • TNCC, NIHSS, CPI, NRP, and SANE certifications
  • Other certifications or licenses as required for the position

  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and communicating in English
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, with proficiency in PC skills
  • Physical abilities: stationary positioning, movement, lifting equipment (50-100 lbs), pushing, pulling, and bending
  • Interpersonal skills: ability to work effectively with diverse personnel while maintaining a positive attitude and professionalism
  • Technical/motor skills: ability to grasp, perform fine manipulation, and assist with procedures
  • Mental requirements: ability to cope with frequent public contact, meet deadlines under pressure, work under supervision or independently, and manage irregular schedules
  • Sensory abilities: visual acuity and effective communication skills
