About the Role

The Emergency Room Registered Nurse (ER RN) delivers rapid-response, high-quality patient care in a fast-paced emergency department. Responsibilities include assessing patient conditions, implementing urgent care plans, administering life-saving treatments, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure efficient, patient-centered care in critical situations.

Responsibilities

  • Rapidly assess and triage patients upon arrival, prioritizing care based on severity.
  • Explain emergency procedures and treatments to patients and families.
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments following approved emergency nursing protocols.
  • Prepare equipment and assist physicians during emergency treatments and examinations.
  • Monitor patient comfort and safety, responding to immediate needs.
  • Observe and document patient conditions within scope of practice.
  • Take and monitor vital signs, addressing deviations to prevent complications.
  • Respond to life-saving situations based on emergency nursing standards and protocols.
  • Document comprehensive nursing assessments, interventions, and outcomes in electronic medical records (EMR).
  • Initiate patient education plans tailored to individualized needs.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (physicians, specialists, paramedics, social workers) to ensure comprehensive care.
  • Adhere to hospital safety protocols, infection control guidelines, and regulatory standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of practice.

Requirements

  • One year of recent experience as an ER RN.
  • Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations.
  • Current BLS certification (AHA/ARC).
  • Current ACLS certification (AHA/ARC).
  • Current PALS (AHA/ARC) or ENPC certification.

Preferred Qualifications

  • TNCC, NIHSS, CPI, NRP, and SANE certifications.

Skills

  • Critical thinking, service excellence, and strong interpersonal communication.
  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and communicating in English.
  • Ability to follow written/verbal instructions and basic PC skills.
  • Physical ability to remain stationary, move equipment (50-100 lbs), push, pull, and bend.
  • Interpersonal skills to work effectively with diverse personnel while maintaining professionalism.
  • Technical/motor skills to grasp, perform fine manipulation, and assist with procedures.
  • Mental resilience to cope with high-pressure environments, irregular schedules, and frequent public interaction.
  • Visual acuity and effective communication abilities.

Schedule

  • Duration: 11 weeks.
  • 36 hours per week.
  • 12-hour night shifts.
