Travel Nurse RN - ED - Emergency Department - $1,803 per week

About the role

TotalMed RN is seeking a travel nurse RN for the Emergency Department in Salem, Virginia. This is an immediate opening for a 13‑week travel assignment requiring 36 hours per week on 12‑hour night shifts. The ideal candidate should have 1‑2 years of recent acute care experience.

Responsibilities

• Work with a diverse team of caregivers to evaluate, triage, and implement care using correct procedures and physician instructions.
• Document medical history, check for patient allergies, obtain vital signs, and monitor patients’ emotional and physical well‑being.
• Provide basic bedside care, clean and bandage wounds, and administer IV therapy.
• Maintain supplies and medical equipment.
• Report suspected abuse to appropriate agencies.

Requirements

• Current ACLS, BLS, PALS, and CPI certifications.
• 1‑2 years of recent acute care experience (Emergency Department preferred).
• Additional certifications may be required before starting the assignment.

Skills

• Ability to cope with stress in a fast‑paced, urgent environment.
• Skill relating to patients of all ages and backgrounds.
• Capable of standing and walking for long periods, bending, leaning, and stooping without difficulty.
• Able to lift 20 pounds routinely; moving or lifting patients may require up to 50 pounds.
