Job Summary
Operating Room Open Heart (OH) Nurse in a healthcare facility is responsible for providing specialized care for patients undergoing cardiothoracic and thoracic surgeries. This role involves assisting with complex procedures such as CABG on bypass, mitral valve or aortic valve replacement, lung cases including VATS and thoracotomy procedures, and hybrid cases for transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR).
Job Details
- Certifications and Education: No minimum experience required; must be a registered nurse licensed in the state of practice, with current CPR certification.
- Schedule: Dayshift, 8-hour shifts, 40 hours per week. Call will be required, with expectations of 1-2 shifts of 16 hours (3 p.m. to 7 a.m.) weekly, plus a full weekend call every 4th weekend (3 p.m. Friday to 7 a.m. Monday).
Responsibilities
- Assisting with CABG on bypass, CABG off bypass, valve replacements, pulmonary embolisms, balloon pump and Impella management, hybrid TAVR cases, lung surgeries including lobectomy, decortication, and wedge biopsy.
- Ability to adapt and float to other OR rooms when necessary.
Additional Information
- Coverage of a 12-room surgical unit, including 12 ORs and a hybrid OR, performing approximately 35-40 cases daily.
- Call duties are integral to the role and can be demanding.

Pay Package
The pay package is based on 8 hour shifts and 40 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with a tax-free stipend amount to be determined.
