About the role
Medical Solutions is seeking a travel nurse RN CVICU for a 13-week assignment in Peoria, Illinois.
Responsibilities
- Adhere to BLS, ACLS, and CCRN certifications
- Titrate multiple drips including dopamine, dobutamine, levophed, epi, neo, vasopressin, cleviprex, propofol, fentanyl, versed, insulin, heparin, esmolol
- Interpret and respond to patient strips
- Work in a fast-paced, high-stress environment
- Utilize ventilators, CPAP, BPAP, heated high flow, nitric oxide, and ventilate patients
- Read and interpret Philips tele monitors
- Assist with IABPs, Swan Ganz, ECMO, external pacemakers, CRRT lines, PICC, midlines, CVC, swan, arterial lines
- Work with respiratory therapists 24/7
- Work with CV APNs/PAs and CCS APNs/PA
- Work with hospitalists and intensivists 24/7
- Work with charge nurses and house supervisors as needed
- Work with nurse aids and patient care techs as needed
- Work with ventilated patients and those on VADs or transplants
Requirements
- At least 2 years of CVICU experience
- BLS, ACLS, and CCRN certifications preferred
- Experience with common cardiovascular ICU equipment and patient populations
Qualifications
- Current RN license in good standing
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-stress environment
- Strong assessment, critical thinking, communication, organization, teamwork, compassion, time management, and motivation skills
Skills
- Proficiency in cardiovascular ICU components
- Experience with IABPs, Swan Ganz, ECMO, external pacemakers, CRRT lines, PICC, midlines, CVC, swan, arterial lines
- Experience with ventilators, CPAP, BPAP, heated high flow, nitric oxide

Pay
Pay package is based on 12-hour shifts and 48 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with tax-free stipend amount to be determined.
Schedule
- Shifts are 12 hours (7a-7p or 7p-7a)
- No self-scheduling for non AHU
- Every other weekend (Saturday, Sunday for dayshift, Friday, Saturday for nightshift)
- Every other holiday
- Floating to every level of care
Additional Notes
- Unit needs someone proficient in all cardiovascular ICU components with the exception of immediate post op (bonus if they did), VAD and transplant
- Utilize swans, CVC, and art lines daily on majority of patients
- Utilize temporary pacemakers on a lot of patients
- Utilize multiple EP patients
- Utilize IABPs
- Titrate multiple drips frequently
- Have a lot of ventilated patients
