About the role

This unit provides intensive, comprehensive care and monitoring for patients with serious illness before and/or after surgery. The role involves delivering coordinated nursing care for a patient or an assigned group of patients according to established standards and the nursing process. You will supervise and direct the activities of various levels of assigned nursing staff, coordinate care with other disciplines, and utilize critical thinking and independent judgment.

Responsibilities

  • Collect relevant data pertinent to the patient’s health or situation.
  • Analyze assessment data to determine diagnosis and care issues.
  • Develop a plan that prescribes interventions to attain outcomes.
  • Implement the plan, coordinate care delivery, and employ strategies to promote health and a safe environment.
  • Evaluate progress toward attaining outcomes.
  • Identify outcomes for the patient or the patient’s situation.
  • Collaborate with the team of patient, family, and healthcare providers in providing patient care in a safe, healing, humane, and caring environment.
  • Provide learning opportunities for patients, family members, and team members.
  • Directly provide health information to patients, families, and the treatment team.
  • Participate in discharge planning to ensure continuity of care.
  • Delegate appropriately and coordinate duties of healthcare team members.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Cardiovascular with open heart recovery training and balloon pump/open heart experience.
  • Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state of practice (California).
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Acute care facility experience preferred.
  • Work history should not have more than a 30-day gap in the entire work history.
  • 1 reference in the last 12 months.
  • ICU Skills Checklist and reference within a year required upon submission.

Pay

Pay Rate: $2,586.00 - $2,719.00 per week. Pay package is based on 12-hour shifts and 36 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with a tax-free stipend amount to be determined.
