About the Role
- 3x12-hour night shifts (19:00–07:30) for a 13-week assignment starting 9/14/26
- Unit details: 15-bed CVICU with an average daily census of 10
- Patient population: Adults and geriatrics
- Patient ratio: 1:1, up to 1:3 with stable, lower acuity patients
- Common diagnoses: Cardiogenic shock, cardiac arrest, heart failure, cardiac arrhythmias (heart blocks, rhythm disruptions), MI, pulmonary hypertension, advanced therapy workups (LVAD, heart transplant), mechanical support devices (IABP, Impella), hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, hypertensive urgency/emergency
- Special procedures: Bedside central/A-line insertions, bronchoscopy, chest tube insertion, Swan-Ganz/PA catheter insertion, targeted temperature management, CRRT
- Special equipment: Impella, VAD, IABP, CRRT, ventilators, cooling devices, CCO monitors
Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care in a CVICU setting
- Float within specialty and to lower acuities (occasionally to ICU, Cardiac PCU) as needed
- Work every other weekend and holidays as scheduled
- On-call may be required
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of CVICU experience required
- First-time travelers accepted with strong CVICU skill/experience
- Level I & II Trauma experience preferred
- Active Maryland RN license or Compact license at time of submission
