About the Role
The Travel Cath Lab RN provides specialized care for patients undergoing cardiac catheterization and interventional treatments. Responsibilities include preparing patients for procedures, assisting during interventions, and monitoring immediate post-procedure recovery. This role requires collaboration with cardiologists and cath lab teams, advanced cardiac care skills, and strict adherence to safety and regulatory standards.
Responsibilities
- Conduct patient assessments prior to procedures, including reviewing medical history and performing physical exams.
- Assist in positioning patients correctly for procedures and ensure proper placement of EKG electrodes and cardiac leads.
- Assist physicians during procedures, including placement of catheters, wires, balloons, stents, structural heart devices, and other cardiac interventions.
- Operate and monitor hemodynamic equipment, recognizing and responding to changes in cardiac rhythms and waveforms.
- Assist in arterial and/or venous sheath removal using closure devices, manual pressure, or mechanical compression, and transport patients to recovery.
- Monitor vital signs, ECG, and hemodynamic parameters during cardiac catheterization and interventional procedures.
- Support post-procedure care, including monitoring patient recovery and ensuring smooth transitions to the next phase of care.
- Maintain and troubleshoot cath lab equipment, ensuring proper function and stock levels.
- Communicate effectively with team members, patients, families, and physicians to provide seamless care.
- Adhere to hospital safety protocols, infection control guidelines, and regulatory standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of practice.
Requirements
- One year’s recent experience as a Cath Lab RN.
- Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations.
- Current BLS (AHA/ARC) Certification.
- Current ACLS Certification.
Preferred Qualifications
- PALS or ENPC Certifications.
- RCIS certification.
- Other relevant certifications and licenses as required.

- Proficiency in reading/comprehending written instructions, following verbal instructions, and PC skills.
- Physical abilities: Must be able to remain stationary, move about, move equipment (50-100 lbs), push, pull, and bend.

- Technical/motor skills: Ability to grasp, perform fine manipulation, and assist with procedures.
- Mental requirements: Ability to cope with frequent public contact, meet deadlines under pressure, work under supervision or independently, and handle irregular schedules.
- Sensory requirements: Visual acuity and effective communication abilities.
Schedule
- Duration: 8 weeks.
- 40 hours per week.
- Shift: 8 hours, days.
