Responsibilities
- Provides patient care based on wound, ostomy and continence nursing guidelines, and applicable standards of care.
- Serves as a liaison for wound, ostomy and continence care concerns.
- Provides education to team members and participates in assigned committees.
- Affirms the physical, psychological, and social needs of assigned patients, and initiates data collection and assessment on assigned patients.
- Contributes to the development of the plan of care for each assigned patient, using appropriate resources in collaboration with interdisciplinary care team.
- Initiates and implements nursing interventions, medical orders, and other related therapies.
- Collaborates with healthcare team to educate patient and support system.
- Analyzes, modifies, and implements strategies to progress the patient through their plan of care.
- Documents a patient record that is reflective of all patient care provided and the patient's response to the care given in accordance with professional standards.
- Maintains a clean, safe, and secure environment for patients and others by following safety policies and procedures.
- May handle biomedical, pharmaceutical, hazardous and universal wastes per regulatory and accreditation requirements and standards.
- Understands and if assigned, demonstrates the ability to safely handle hazardous drugs which may include receipt, storage, compound, repackaging, dispensing, transporting and/or disposing of hazardous drugs.
Requirements
- Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of Maine.
- Current BLS certification.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN).
Skills
- Wound, Ostomy, and Continence (WOC) Certification.
