About the Assignment

Chinle Comprehensive Health Care Facility is a 60-bed inpatient hospital and outpatient facility serving the Navajo Nation in a rural, high-need region of northern Arizona. You'll provide full-scope adult medical-surgical care, working closely with an interdisciplinary team and gaining firsthand cultural care experience within one of the largest Native American communities in the U.S.

Note: On-site housing is not available — the stipend is designed to support off-site lodging arrangements. Many travelers stay in nearby communities (Window Rock, Ganado) or in Gallup, NM (~90 min).

Schedule

  • 12-hour shifts, rotating days/nights
  • 7 shifts per 2-week period (weekends/holidays included, no set shift preference guaranteed)
  • 36 hours per week (48 hours possible)
  • Contract length: 13 weeks, with likely extension (facility need runs through 2028)
  • Start date: ASAP / 09/01/2026

Pay

  • Taxable hourly wage: $38.00/hr
  • Weekly taxable gross (36 hrs): $1,368/week
  • Non-taxable weekly stipend (lodging + meals): $1,246/week
    • Lodging: $770/week
    • Meals & Incidentals (M&IE): $476/week
  • Blended rate: $72.61/hr
  • Total weekly gross pay: $2,614/week
  • One-time travel reimbursement (first paycheck): $500

Non-taxable stipends available to qualifying travelers who maintain a tax home more than 50 miles from the assignment location, per IRS guidelines.

Pay package based on current GSA per diem rates for Apache County, AZ and Service Contract Act wage requirements for this position. Final rate subject to credentialing tier and contract terms.

Requirements

  • Active, unrestricted RN license (any U.S. state, DC, Puerto Rico, or territory)
  • Minimum 36 months of RN experience, including 24 months in Medical-Surgical/ACU specialty
  • Current BLS and ACLS certification (American Heart Association)
  • Unit-specific competencies completed during orientation
  • Ability to pass Level I/II background check, fingerprinting, and E-Verify
  • Up-to-date immunizations (Hep A/B, MMR, Varicella, Tdap, annual TB test, annual flu)
  • Comfortable working in a rural/remote, culturally diverse care setting
