This role involves managing complex conditions such as respiratory distress, glucose management, and care for neonates requiring surgical or cardiac interventions. Key Responsibilities: Patient Care: Deliver comprehensive care to neonates, particularly those < 24-28 weeks gestation, emphasizing respiratory, cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, and infectious disease management. Medication Administration: Utilize the Pyxis medication system for administering intravenous vasopressors, surfactants, and steroids. Documentation: Maintain accurate and thorough documentation using EPIC. Communication: Employ the SBAR communication method to facilitate effective communication with healthcare providers and families. Special Procedures: Perform and manage specialized procedures, including arterial line management, central line care, and interventions for neonatal abstinence syndrome. Respiratory Management: Oversee ventilator settings and make necessary adjustments (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BIPAP/PEEP). Required Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Skills and Experience: Experience in Level III and Level IV NICUs. Proficient in interpreting and managing cardiovascular dysrhythmias. Skillful in gastrointestinal feeding methods and management of oral, nasogastric, and nasojejunal tubes. Expertise in infection control practices and intravenous therapy, including management of umbilical artery and vein catheters. Provider Support: Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team that includes Nurse Practitioners, interpretation services, pharmacy, physical therapy, radiology, respiratory services, social services, and unit secretaries. Patient Diagnoses: Provide care for neonates with conditions such as respiratory distress, glucose management issues, and those requiring surgical or cardiac interventions. Special Procedures/Unit Details: The NICU supports all necessary equipment, supplies, patient care policies, and procedures to ensure optimal care for neonates. Parking Options: Agency staff have several parking permit options available, including convenient access and cost-effective choices. WMC Agency Permit: 24/7 access to the Wexner Medical Center Garage with guaranteed availability. WB Permit: Weekend/holiday access with shuttle service provided to the medical center. CXS Permit: Access during weekends and holidays with 24/7 availability to designated surface lots.
