This position involves supporting interhospital transport of pediatric and neonatal patients, with a focus on critically ill infants and children. The role requires working within a specialized team to provide advanced care and facilitate safe transfers via ground and air transportation. Job Details: Schedule: 12-hour shifts, 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. or 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., with a minimum of 36 hours per week. Required Qualifications: Five years of experience in Pediatric Emergency Department (PEDs ED) or Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), including at least one year each in Level IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and Pediatric Emergency Department (PEDs ED). Must possess Washington State license, Basic Life Support (BLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certifications. Neonatal/Pediatric transport experience within the last five years is required. Preferred Qualifications: Critical care certifications such as Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) and STABLE are preferred. Responsibilities: Support interhospital transport via ground and air, manage airway and vasoactive infusions, administer inhaled respiratory medications, establish IV and intraosseous (IO) access, and operate equipment including Phillips monitors, Hamilton ventilators, Braun and Baxter IV pumps, Tecotherm, Zoll defibrillators, and transport isolette. Assist with patient care in unit settings when not transporting; team includes RN, RT, and EMT, partnered with NW ambulance and Airlift Northwest. Patient Types and Diagnoses: Pediatric and neonatal patients suffering from conditions like hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE), postpartum hypoxia/neonatal (ppHN), asthma, respiratory illnesses, sepsis, diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA), metabolic disorders, trauma, ingestions, congenital heart defects, cancer, necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC), and others. Technology/Equipment: Philips monitors, Hamilton ventilators, Braun and Baxter IV pumps, Tecotherm, Zoll defibrillators, transport isolette, ambulance, and aircraft equipment. Orientation includes safety day training. Additional Notes: The transport team consists of one registered nurse (RN), one respiratory therapist (RT), and an emergency medical technician (EMT) driver. The team partners with NW ambulance for ground transport and Airlift Northwest for air transport. They operate in a level 2 trauma, level 4 NICU serving the Puget Sound region and eastern Washington.
